Bom alunos queridos do 2º ano EM...

"My sister loves running."
(Minha irmã ama correr.)

"Running is good for your health."
(Correr / Corrida faz bem à saúde.)

Nos casos acima, utiliza-se a terminologia "-ing" para substantivos ou verbos que, em português, ficariam na forma infinitiva.

"They are running now."
(Eles estão correndo agora.)

Já em casos como este, tem-se a ideia de CONTINUIDADE, seja ela no passado, presente ou derivações destas. SEMPRE usando TO BE + "_______________" (verbo / ação) + ING.

Tento deixar bem clara a diferença entre esses dois tipos de uso para que não haja confusão na hora de interpretar ou formular uma frase.

Espero ter sanado mais algumas dúvidas...

Abraço!

Chega de me "ouvirem" "falar" agora, dêem uma olhada em uma explicação bem breve, extraída da web:

Gerund or Progressive/Continuous

Ambas as formas terminam em "-ing". Nem sempre é fácil descobrir se trata-se de uma forma em Gerúndio ou em Contínuo / Progressivo.

.
.

Progressive tenses

These tenses are formed with "to be" and the infinitive + - ing.

.
.
.
sentences tense
He is reading a book. Present Progressive
He was reading a book. Past Progressive
He has been reading a book for three hours. Present Perfect Progressive
He had been reading a book before Mary came in. Past Perfect Progressive
He will be reading a book when I get home. will-future Progressive
He will have been reading a book. Future Perfect Progressive
He would be reading a book if he had time. Conditional Progressive
He would have been reading a book if he had had time. Conditional Perfect Progressive
A book is being read. Present Progressive - Passive
A book was being read. Past Progressive - Passive
.
.
.

Gerund

The Gerund is formed only with infinitive + - ing.

e.g.:

Reading books is great fun.

He likes reading books.

He is looking forward to reading books at the weekend.

He is used to reading books.

What about reading books?

He likes the idea of reading books.

After reading the book, he went to bed.

I remember having read this book. - Passive

Watching "The phantom of the opera" (2004)... I just can't describe how I see myself in the phantom.

I offer you two parts I'm watching right now...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yfPLh_6ckzI
and
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t75STnoaR1w
RAOUL
No more talk of darkness,
Forget these wide-eyed fears
I'm here, nothing can harm you
my words will warm and calm you
Let me be your freedom,
let daylight dry your tears.
I'm here with you, beside you,
to guard you and to guide you...

CHRISTINE
Say you love me every waking moment,
turn my head with talk of summertime...
Say you need me with you now and always...
Promise me that all you say is true
that's all I ask of you

RAOUL
Let me be your shelter
let me be your light
You're safe, No one will find you
your fears are far behind you...

CHRISTINE
All I want is freedom,
a world with no more night
and you, always beside me, to hold me and to hide me...

RAOUL
Then say you'll share with me
one love, one lifetime
let me lead you from your solitude
Say you need me with you here, beside you...
anywhere you go, let me go too
Christine, that's all I ask of you...

CHRISTINE
Say you'll share with me one love, one lifetime...
say the word and I will follow you...
(right) BOTH:
Share each day with me,
each night, each morning...
(right) CHRISTINE
Say you love me...

RAOUL
You know I do...

BOTH
Love me - that's all I ask of you
Anywhere you go let me go too
Love me - that's all I ask of you...

(pause for the phantom)

CHRISTINE
You'll guard me, and you'll guide me...

PHANTOM
I gave you my music
made your song take wing
and now how you've repaid me
denied me and betrayed me
He was bound to love you
when he heard you sing
Christine...

CHRISTINE & RAOUL
Say you'll share with me one love, one lifetime
say the word and I will follow you
Share each day with me,
each night, each morning...

PHANTOM
You will curse the day you did not do
all that the Phantom asked of you!
I'm so tired of all these mad things.

Mad happenings that stuck me in certain part of my so recent past.

I'm tired of this damn fate. I can't control it, and if I can't, I lose my mind.

And losing my mind, I start that vicious cicle of reminding good moments I spent in delightful company.

And forgeting the present, I surrender into a smell, a forgotten empty cup of coffee, all simple things that made me so happy days ago.

I'm revisiting this recent past over and over again.

I'm returning to my old childhood, trying to learn again how to enjoy the current time.

I've just forgotten how to do that.

Young girl, help me to remember.

And my dear V., ... make me alive again, my sweet friend. I beg you.

There it is, 2nd grade!

Our project is here...

Take a look at the pictures and choose ONE!
